Occupational Therapy

OT provides concrete, practical solutions by focusing on client strengths and concerns along with skillful adjustment of the environment and daily activities to better support client needs. Mental health OTs use many of the tools of talk-based therapy with an action-oriented approach. The goal is to foster your growth and healing by engaging in activities that are meaningful to you.

OT can help with:

  • Building a satisfying daily routine & healthy habits

  • Addressing sensory differences

  • Increasing understanding of mental, cognitive, and physical health needs

  • Nervous system regulation tools

  • Executive function support

  • Medication management and health maintenance

  • So much more!

“We often forget that we are nature. So when we say that we have lost our connection to nature, we have lost our connection to ourselves.”

-Andy Goldworthy

Also called Eco Therapy or Green Therapy, Nature Therapy is founded on the idea that being outdoors in natural environments can have a profoundly positive influence on body, mood, and behavior.

I meet clients outside, with nature as a co-facilitator to address sensory sensitivities, nervous system regulation, mental health, and well being. I can also incorporate natural items, concepts, and sensory experiences into online sessions

Nature therapy can help you:

  • Understand and regulate your nervous system

  • Experience feelings of safety, peace, and calm

  • Practice & experience mindfulness skills

  • Deepen your relationship with nature and bring more nature into your daily life

  • Heal effects of trauma, stress, anxiety, and depression

Expressive Arts Approaches

Expressive arts approaches combine somatic (body-based) therapies, mindfulness, and creativity to promote healing.

Rather than focusing on the final product, the process of creation via nonverbal language is the emphasis. Clients might journal, dance, paint, collage, or make art with natural items.

Expressive arts can help you:

  • Process and communicate difficult feelings non-verbally

  • Feel more present and embodied

  • Understand and regulate your nervous system

  • Experience feelings of safety, peace, and calm

  • Build self esteem and self efficacy

  • Practice & experience mindfulness skills

  • Deepen your relationship with creativity and bring more creativity into daily life

  • Heal effects of trauma, stress, anxiety, and depression

  • Tap into intuitive, spiritual, or less concrete understandings of self and relationships
